How a Simple YouTube Search Launched My 7-Year SEO Journey
Back in 2017, I had no clue what SEO was. One day, a close friend told me, “If you can get 30,000 visitors to your website, you could make $100 a month.” That caught my attention. I thought, Woah, that sounds amazing!
So, I did what anyone would do—I searched on YouTube. I came across videos by Neil Patel, Brian Dean, and Nathan Gotch. I started taking handwritten notes from everything they shared.
From one of Nathan’s videos, a piece of advice stood out:
“If you want to learn SEO faster, you should build a website and test everything you learn.”
That was my turning point. I decided to jump in and build my first site in the tech niche. I had no idea how to code and didn’t have the funds to hire a developer, so I turned to YouTube again to learn how to set up a WordPress site and install Yoast.
Back then, I believed getting all green lights in Yoast was the key to success in SEO. I was proud of my 90+ content scores. And somehow, I managed to drive over 100 visitors to my site. That was enough to get me AdSense approval, and I felt like I was on the right track—I could actually earn money from SEO!
To grow my SEO skills, I immersed myself in the field:
- I built multiple blogs.
- Stayed up-to-date with the latest SEO news.
- Participated in SEO communities.
- Followed other SEOs on social media.
But I wanted more than just a website—I wanted to run my own SEO agency. However, I didn’t know where to start, so I joined an SEO agency as an executive. Over time, I worked my way up to a team lead position, learning valuable lessons along the way.
With enough experience under my belt, I launched BlueStoneSEO, my very own SEO agency. And let me tell you, nothing feels better than delivering results to clients and seeing their businesses grow.
